The Island of Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is a great island to visit. Visiting other parts of the island is something you should not miss. There are great beaches, some natural and others man-made with all the facilities you might want. Small villages are dotted around the coast and interior. Some like Puerto Mogan and Arguiniguin are very attractive fishing villages, with many restaurants and shops along the quay sides. The interior of the island is mountainous with beautiful pine forests and lakes. You are guaranteed to get away from the crowds by taking a drive through the centre of the island. Maspalomas sand dunes are a must to visit, like a mini Sahara desert of interlinking dunes. Having got hot walking across them, cool off with a dip in the ocean. The capital Las Palmas has an old attractive centre with shops and restaurants and where you will see traditional Spanish town houses. In this area is also the medieval cathedral, worth a visit if you want some culture.
